How to Pass CFA Level 1 in 1 month

Are you currently studying for or thinking about registering for the CFA level 1 exam wondering how to pass CFA Level 1 exam in 1 month of study and on the first try?

Well, you’re in the right place as in this article you’ll get to know how to pass level 1 on the first try when you’re left with just one month, yes one month of studying.

To clear CFA level one in just one month is not an easy task for sure and it will seriously require full-time 12 to 14 hours a day of studying. The best place for you to learn the material is from the candidate body of knowledge itself.

Yes, it’s a lot of reading and as you don’t have enough time, you might want to refer to prep packages. Although you’ll have to spend a few bucks on them that should be worth it.

Here are 10 steps and some important tips to help you pass the CFA level 1 exam on the first try.

Step 1: Count the days you’ve on hand :

Take a blank calendar or an excel sheet. Figure out how many months you have left between you and the exam.

Step 2: Plan your Study :

Divide up the number of pages to read by the number of days that you have left leaving a few weeks for review and mock exams. Then go through the study notes and write down which readings and page ranges you’re going to cover each day.

With just one month, you’ll have to crush anywhere from 150 to 350 pages per day to get through everything in time. Prepare for reading everywhere – on the train, on the subway, to the post office. Leave no time to spare.

Step 3: Reading the study notes :

If you’re reading through the CFA material, make sure to read through and practice all of the blue boxes as you go along since those questions are closest to what you can expect on the exam. If you’re using Edpedia’s Study Notes, make sure you refer to the blue boxes separately.

And in case you’re looking for printed notes, you may refer to the:

Edpedia’s Study Notes (2022) or Study Notes (2021)

Schweser Notes or

– CFA Curriculum

Also, pay specific attention to any concept that comes in steps of three or four. These are easy things for the Institute to test you on or make you identify in a multiple-choice question.

Step 4: Do the end of chapter questions (EOCs) :

No matter which study material you refer to, EOCs in the CFA material is a MUST. Go through these immediately after completing each reading to make sure that everything sunk in. Mark any questions that you have trouble with so you know which ones to revisit later.

Step 5: Attempt more questions topic-wise :

Now is the time to go for topic-wise question banks to test your knowledge of the concepts. It will help you assess which topics you need to focus more on.

Step 8: Time for the Mock Exams :

Take three or four mock exams after you’ve made your study guides, gone to the EOCs multiple times and completed each of the topic tests. Try to take a mock at least a couple of weeks before game time. Then focus your remaining study days on the concepts that you got wrong. There are lot of good prep providers providing exam-like tests. When you’re doing these, don’t get freaked out by whatever percentile. Mock tests will help to reduce surprises on the exam day.

Step 9: The night before your exam :

Take a mental inventory. You can retake the topic tests or only go through the questions that you got wrong the first time around. Then make a list of concepts by topic that you feel a bit shaky on and need to look at again last minute.

Step 10: The D-day :

On exam day trust that you’ve prepared well as you head into the testing center. Walk tall, review just a handful of flashcards, only the formulas that you have a tendency to forget or mess up and listen to some music to get pumped up.

When the proctor says begin, get to work and crush it. This sounds like a lot of work and it is passing each of these exams especially on the first try takes a lot of planning discipline and strategy.

The key to passing level one is being familiar enough with everything, that you’ll at least recognize it on the exam. That is why going through the content multiple times and practicing as many questions as possible is the best way to achieve success on level one.

So, in order to crack and pass the CFA Level 1 exam in 1 month, you need to create a plan and stick to it. Studying for these things is extremely grueling mentally, physically and emotionally and you don’t want to do it any more times then you have to get it done on the first try and move on to the next level.

Good luck!

Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Taking the time and actual effort to produce a great article… but what can I
say… I hesitate a lot and never seem to get nearly anything done.
